Don Maximiano Founder's Reserve 2022 and KAI 2022 stand out among icon wines praised by James Suckling

During his annual visit to Chile in early February, renowned North American wine critic James Suckling, along with senior editor Zekun Shuai, tasted the new vintages from Viña Errázuriz.

Among the highest-rated wines, the 2022 vintage of Don Maximiano Founder's Reserve stands out, awarded once again with 97 points:

“The stunning nose of red fruit and violets with a glaze of fine vanilla oak and great finesse pulls you into this concentrated Bordeaux blend with very fine tannins on the medium- to full-bodied palate. But as wonderful as the interplay of fruit and tannin is on the front palate, this opens up like a peacock's tail at the extremely long and brilliant finish. Each time you go back the delicate spice becomes more apparent”.

Meanwhile, Viña Errazuriz's sophisticated Carmenere, KAI 2022, was also scored with impeccable 97 points:

“Lots of violets and flowers with some currants, nettles and balsamic. Notes of potpourri and paprika. Medium- to full-bodied with fresh fruit and citrus flavors. Cool and subtle peppermint undertones. Racy at the end with vivid acidity. Sophisticated and elegant”.

Other representatives from the portfolio that also received significant scores were Villa Don Maximiano 2022 and La Cumbre 2022, recognized with 95 and 94 points respectively.
