Viña Errázuriz introduces new member to oenological team

Tomás studied Agricultural Engineering at Universidad Católica de Chile, where he specialized in Enology. In 2015 he took his first harvest at Viña Concha y Toro; then he travelled to California to the Mendocino County, to work for Fetzer Vineyards. In early 2016 he decided to go to New Zealand, and he took place at Kim Crawford of Constellation Brands. For the second half of 2016, he returned to California, this time to the Monterey area, assuming the high-end wines at Delicato Family Vineyards.

After his harvests abroad, he returned to Chile in 2017 as Assistant Winemaker at Viña Santa Rita. Later in 2018, Tomás took the role for Gran Reserva and Icon wines of Viña Carmen, belonging to the same wine group.

Tomás joined the team this year as Chief Winemaker of Viña Errázuriz, working directly with Francisco Baettig to acquire the “know-how” of the winery and contributing with his vision and knowledge obtained in the recognized New World wineries. In addition, he will act as a bridge between our wines and consumers, “making the theory more approachable”, he explains.

Recently on October 8th, Patricio Tapia, a prestigious wine critic, highlighted him among the “Promising Winemakers under 35”, being a player in the future of Chilean wine. At Viña Errázuriz, we are happy to count on his talent, which will be revealed in our wines in the coming years.

Besides his passion for wine, Tomás is a very dynamic person. Since he was 4 years old, he has been playing field hockey and enjoys snow skiing and hiking on the Chilean mountains.
