Viña Errázuriz present at Nobel Prize Banquet 2017

December 2017- Viña Errazuriz had the honour of being chosen to participate in the Nobel Banquet on December 10, 2017. The King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Silvia, along with Nobel laureates and other prominent guests had the pleasure of enjoying Viña Errazuriz’s Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2016 during the gala dinner.

The menu of the evening, to which 1,350 guests participated in the Town Hall of Stockholm, was prepared by renown Scandinavian Chef Tom Sjöstedt. The entrée was paired with Tattinger Brut Reserve, followed by Domini La Cartoixa Formiga de Vellu 2014 and Viña Errazuriz Late Harvest 2016 was the grand finale of the dinner and enjoyed with a frosty bilberry bavarois, bilberry ice cream with lemon thyme, lime curd and lime meringues created by pastry chef Daniel Roos.

The Nobel Prize is one of the most prestigious prizes in the world and follows the will of Swedish scientist Alfred Nobel, known to have invented dynamite. Since 1901, the Nobel Prize has awarded “prizes to those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit on mankind” in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and Peace. In 1968, Sveriges Riksbank (Sweden’s central bank) established The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.

The Nobel Prize was handed over to the laureates in Stockholm on the 10th of December by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, with the exception of The Nobel Peace Prize which is delivered in Norway. The banquet following the Prize Ceremony is known as one of the most exquisite celebrations in the world. The menu served during the banquet is a well‐kept secret until the very last moment.

This distinguished participation of Viña Errazuriz comes at the end of a year marked by outstanding recognition including being named “Best Chilean Winery 2017” by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and crowns its highly successful history as an “Extraordinary Winery” through a passionate commitment to quality, perseverance and constant quest of the pure expression of the terroir.
