Climate Information
The climate in Chile varies enormously, since it has a Mediterranean climate. In the North, clear, cold nights follow the daily heat of the desert. Seasons are well defined. Spring, between September and November, has mild temperatures contributing to the flowering and greening of plants and trees. Summer, between December and February, is dry and hot with temperatures that can reach over 30º C (87º F) slightly cooling at night. Autumn is between March and May, and temperatures decrease gradually. Winters have cold mornings down to -2º C (28º F) and temperature rises at midday but always is below 15°C (60º F).

Rainfall
Rains normally begin in April and reach their highest level during June or July, decreasing gradually to almost none in November. The average annual rainfall in Santiago is 384 mm.
