AIRPORT COSTUMERS
Taxes and fares
For flights leaving Chile from international airports a tax of US$ 18 or
its equivalent in local currency must be paid. In domestic flights
the airport tax is normally included in the ticket price.
Facilities
The Santiago International Airport "Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez", and
the airports of Arica (Chacalluta), Antofagasta (Cerro Moreno), Iquique
(Cavancha), Puerto Montt (Tepual), Punta Arenas (Pdte. Ibañez) and
Temuco (Maquehue) have police and immigration services, customs and
other facilities such as restaurants, toilets, traveling and accessories
shops, newsstands, waiting and rest rooms. Every airport servicing
domestic flights has equivalent facilities according to its importance.
Shuttles
International and national airports have transfer shuttles to the city
or hotels. The Santiago International airport has several private
transportation means such as buses, shuttles, for which appropriate
information is available at the information desk of each airport.
Customs
International travelers must clear customs upon entrance. Normally you
will not have problems with personal belongings as long as you don't
carry:
- Fruits, vegetables,
seeds or unprocessed goods of animal origin
- Firearms, ammunition or explosives
- Illegal drugs
