In one of the most emblematic wine-producing regions in the world as Bordeaux, and in such an ideal setting as Vinexpo, world’s most important wine fair, Viña Errázuriz’s President Eduardo Chadwick had an outstanding participation in the first ever Symposium Vinexpo held on May Tuesday 14th.

Symposium Vinexpo is a groundbreaking initiative dedicated in its first edition to discuss about climate change in three key aspects: vineyards, vineyard management and winemaking, and the wine economy. The event gathered some of the most renowned scientists, economists, academics and wine personalities worldwide.

In the conference entitled “How do wine producers integrate climate change into their business strategy?”, Chadwick participated as a keynote speaker, alongside special guest Patrice Geoffron, professor of Economics at University Paris-Dauphine, plus Christian de Boissieu, economist and professor of economics at La Sorbonne, and Antonio Amorim, Chairman and CEO of Corticeira Amorim.

Eduardo Chadwick, Viña Errázuriz’s President, commented: “The future of climate change is uncertain, and as a wine industry we have to take the lead with our example of carbon footprint reduction practices. Chile offers the world a unique opportunity as a true viticultural paradise as it owns unparalleled geographic and climatic conditions to produce sustainable wines. World wine consumers, and especially in Asia, are recognizing this particular advantage of our Chilean wine industry and prefer us.”

The conference’s round table discussed several topics, such as the increase of temperatures and rainfall decrease, which are redefining the wine regions’ frontiers, threatening the production in some of the world’s most prestigious appellations, while it creates new opportunities in northern regions.
